Joanna holds bachelor degrees in Educational Studies and English from Davidson College. She grew up in a small town outside Boston where she discovered a love of childcare through working at her local summer camp. 

 

At Davidson, Joanna expanded her passion for teaching via various experiential learning opportunities, including volunteering at intergenerational daycares and working with students with disabilities. She has a particular passion for special education and teaching adaptive functioning skills. She is dedicated to creating meaningful, lasting relationships with her students and to fostering a genuine love of learning within them. 

 

Before coming to Elevate, Joanna taught 5th grade at Meeting Street Elementary in North Charleston. She is beyond excited to begin her first year teaching in Oak Room! 

 

Outside of school, Joanna enjoys reading thriller novels, traveling, and discovering new coffee shops.
