Dr. Emily Corbin Bio

Dr. Emily is entering her second year at Elevate Community School as the Director of Wellness and Counseling. She brings over 15 years of experience as a mental health professional working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, and private practice. Before moving to South Carolina, Emily served as the Director of Counseling and Middle School Counselor at an independent school in Dallas, Texas. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Woman’s University, where her research and publications focused on the integration of interpersonal neurobiology in therapy.

At Elevate, Emily takes a holistic approach to student wellness, providing individual and classroom support on topics such as mental health, mind-body connection, self-awareness, and peer relationships. With a strong foundation in childhood development and neuroscience, she is tailoring a wellness program specifically for Elevate students and families. Her work is informed by classroom observations, faculty collaboration, and parent feedback.

As an Elevate parent herself, Emily understands and values the school’s commitment to honoring each child’s individuality, creativity, and connection to nature. She is passionate about supporting students in a way that nurtures joy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Originally from Alexandria, Louisiana, Emily earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. She now lives on Daniel Island with her husband and three children, Elle, Luke, and Tess, along with their dogs, Barbara and Captain.
